Winter swimming in Sydney. We really cannot compla Winter swimming in Sydney. We really cannot complain about the water temperature.

Lovely swim from Manly to Shelly then back to Fairy Bower this morning. Saw a Port Jackson shark, plenty blue gropers and shimmering sheets of silvery fish. And swimmers!!

Heaven to be back in the briny.

I have just read @sarahswims04's account of her do I have just read @sarahswims04's account of her double crossing of the North Channel between Scotland and Northern Ireland. She's the first person ever to swim the double of this super-difficult channel swim. I'm in awe.

It's a great read, grab a cuppa and have a look at: https://sarahthomasswims.com/2022/07/14/the-north-channel/

Myself, I am a fair weather, simple swimmer... so far anyway... but who knows what might lie ahead. For sure I'd love at least to meet the Irish Chunky Dunkers swimming group.

A bit of swimming inspo and amazement for a sunny Sunday in New Soth Wales.
Off for a swim at the indoor pool, looking totally Off for a swim at the indoor pool, looking totally ridiculous in hoodie towel and furry hat. But got to be practical, will need that hat after the swim as I dash dripping to the car.
Swam in this clear water. Swam slowly slowly to fe Swam in this clear water. Swam slowly slowly to feel every breath, see all the fish, sense the water on my skin as I moved through it.

Huge blue groupers everywhere, many clouds of mini fish drifting by.

Will hold all this close and keep seeing the colours of the fish, seaweed, rocks and feeling the movement of the water, the sense of being part of the vast ocean, when home again. Uplifting, a joy xx

Fairy Bower pool looking fabulous this morning in Fairy Bower pool looking fabulous this morning in sunshine. If I get in for a dip the glam factor would plummet.

The sea looks much clearer than I expected though, so a sea swim is in order!

Views of the pool flags from below. Sometimes the Views of the pool flags from below.

Sometimes the views from underwater at the pool are even more delicious that the views above. A bright blue sky and the glassiness of the water surface makes the pool flags looks ethereal.

Got to enjoy this last week of outdoors swimming at Orange Aquatic Centre. The beloved 50m pool calls time on Anzac Day and closes for winter. Boo hoo, boo hoo.

Just randomly, since I am editing these photos tod Just randomly, since I am editing these photos today, here are some photos of little turtle hatchlings erupting out of their nest and rushing down to the sea and then swimming away little mad wee things.

One did go the wrong way and almost ran over a bloke's foot. But he stood steady and the turtle found its way to the sea.
I have never been a fan of watching female turtles lay eggs. Even if not too close, it feels too intrusive for me.

But watching the little ones rush to the beach did not feel that way. The rangers kept us a safe distance away and watched carefully, and the hatchlings paid so attention to us. They probably thought we were trees.

A special experience and one the kids watching just adored.
